Youth Ministry Committee

The Youth Ministry Committee & Youth Council of the Presbytery of New Hope provides programs for all Youth & their leaders, to promote the ministry, praise, study, & worship of our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ. As the Body of Christ, the Church, we are called by God to minister to & through our young people & their leaders by nurturing them for their daily lives, by providing them with support & guidance, & by enabling them to serve & minister to the entire church body.

This ministry is accomplished through retreats, where Youth can serve as leaders to their peers, & through training sessions for Youth & Leaders, to building on leadership skills & resources. In these ways, we want to enable Youth & Leaders to return to their congregations & communities as ministers of our common love & faith in Jesus Christ.

We recognize & support the individual needs of each church's Youth Ministry & will support them in whatever capacity needed. We will help to implement the development of new Youth Ministry programs in the local congregations, & continue our support of all Youth programs as these ministries grow & develop. By way of our connected Body, The Presbytery of New Hope, we can commit our resources, time, & talents to the building & strengthening of these ministries, & encourage active leadership of our Youth in our churches, now & tomorrow!

Youth Committee Activities

The Youth Committee plans four events for youth of the Presbytery each year, trains a 50-person Youth Council, and sends 30 youth and adults to the Presbyterian Youth Triennium at Purdue University every three years. The retreats bring in well-known youth speakers and musicians to supplement the Christian Education of our youth.

The committee's forte' is a well-trained Youth Council. The outstanding young people on this Council are required to complete a six page/three reference application, attend two training sessions of fifteen hours of invaluable training in order to lead four small groups at the retreats and rallies each year.
