Timothy Tyson to speak on award-winning Blood Done Sign My Name

North Carolina scholar Timothy Tyson will speak on his Grawemeyer Award-winning book, Blood Don Sign My Name, at a public lecture, entitled “Miss Amy’s Witness: Why Our History of the Civil Rights Movement is (Almost) All Wrong.” The lecture will be held free of charge April 18, 2007, at 7 p.m. in Caldwell Chapel on the campus of Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. In addition to the lecture, Tyson will speak with students from the Seminary and University campuses and during the Seminary chapel hour at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 19. This is also open to the public. Traveling with him is North Carolina gospel singer Mary D. Williams, who will perform the title song, “Blood Done Sign My Name,” and a medley of other spirituals.

James Hyde is selected for Kentucky Marriage and Family Therapy Award

The Kentucky Association for Marriage & Family Therapy (KAMFT) is pleased to announce its award winners for 2007, including James A Hyde, PhD, director of the Marriage and Family Therapy program at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. He has been selected to receive a Distinguished Contributions and Lifetime Achievement Award at the KAMFT banquet on April 19.

Four LPTS alums receive 2007 Distinguished Alum Awards during annual reunion

Since 1986, Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary has presented 80 alums with the Distinguished Alum Award that celebrates excellence in a variety of ministerial fields, including the pastoral ministries, seminary and denominational leadership, publishing, social and ethical activism, pastoral counseling, and teaching. On March 13, four more alums were added to the distinguished list as they were recognized for their vision, accomplishments, and leadership in their respective callings.
