On behalf of the staff of the Office of Vocation, you are being cordially invited to participate in the 218th General Assembly Face-to-Face Event.  In the past we have used paper copies, this year’s event will provide a new opportunity to download personal information forms (PIF) and church information forms (CIF) electronically and use technology to communicate to schedule interviews and appointments, such as email, cell phones, text messaging, etc. 

 

The Face-to-Face event will be held at The San Jose Marriott Hotel in rooms (Willow Glen I, II, III) beginning Friday, June 20 at 3:30 P.M., ending Wednesday, June 25 at 1:00 P.M. The Marriott Hotel is adjacent to the San Jose McEnery Convention Center where the 218th General Assembly is located.

 

If you are a church professional thinking about where God is calling you, or a congregation/search committee seeking to fill a vacant position, or a middle governing body staff person working with the call process, this will be a chance to make connections to discuss new opportunities. In addition, there will be training sessions on how to use the Church Leadership Connection (CLC) system.  Come meet our staff during these hours:

                                    Saturday, June 21         8:30 A.M. – 7:30 P.M.

                                    Sunday, June 22           1:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M.

                                    Monday, June 23           8:30 A.M. – 7:30 P.M.

                                    Tuesday, June 24          9:30 A.M. – 7:00 P.M.

                                    Wednesday, June 25     9:30 A.M. – 1:00 P.M.

                                                                       

What Can I Expect?

 

Expect to be open to where the Holy Spirit may lead and guide you. You will be responsible for setting up interviews and appointments.  There will be a separate room to interview (Willow Glen III). All registered participants will be able to download PIFs and CIFs electronically.  You may want to bring a few hard copies of your PIF or CIF along with any other descriptive material about the congregation, such as bulletins, newsletters, etc. or about yourself, such as audio or visual tape to share during the interview.  You can leave 3-5 copies of these materials in your file with us during the event. 

 

Posting of Position and Person Profiles

 

All position and person profiles will be posted on 5x8 cards daily. You may copy and paste from your church information form, a brief description of the position and church or from your personal information form, a brief description of the characteristics and the gifts and skills you bring, limit to1500 characters.  Position types will be color- coded for your convenience.  This will help those searching know where to look for (Head of Staff, Solo Pastor, Associate Pastor, etc.)

 

Do I have to be present at GA all week to participate?

 

We strongly suggest that you be present at GA in order to participate in the Face-to-Face, and we recommend that you be present a minimum of 2-3 days to discuss new opportunities. The longer you can be present, the more interviews and contacts you can make.

 

Deadline Date

 

If you plan to participate in the Face-to-Face, the Deadline Date to register is FRIDAY, MAY 23, 2008.

Go on-line at www.pcusa.org/clc/index.htm to download the registration form, Interview/Appointment Schedule, Position and Person Profile forms.  Please return these forms as an email attachment to shirley.mcdade@pcusa.org or fax them to (502) 569-5870, or contact us at 888-728-7228 ext. 5731 to have them mailed to you.
